Cancer can be cured if it is detected early. cancer can be detected early by screening methods. Screening is detecting cancer in an early precancerous stage. Screening is available for most common cancers in men and women.

    • From 50-75 years- 2yearly screening

    • Trans rectal ultrasound

    Cancer screening Guidelines for cervical cancer

    Screening is done by both PAP smear test and HPV kit.in most of the centres,HPV kit Is not available.In that scenario atleast PAP smear test is recommended
    • Screening to be started for women from age of 20 years to 65 years
    • If both PAP smear and HPV testing are normal, screening can be done once in 5 years
    • If only Pap Smear test is done, Screening is done once in 3 years

    Screening Guidelines for Breast Cancer

    All women >20 years  must under go Monthly Breast Self Examination

    All women > 40 years must undergo yearly  Mammography  

    If someone has strong family history of breast cancer they can start screening from 30 years.

    Screening Guideline for Lung Cancer

    Both Men and women between 50-77 years

    Who are currently smoking or  History of smoking (20 pack years)or who left smoking in past 15 years are advised to undergo yearly Low dose screening CT Scan

    Screening Guidelines for colorectal cancer

    • All men and women from age 45 to 75 years
    • Annual fecal occult blood test (FOBT) or fecal immunochemical test (FIT)
    • Flexible sigmoidoscopy every 5 years
    • Colonoscopy every 10 year
